Our Mission
Our mission is to promote
FRIENDSHIP,
CONTRIBUTION and
FUN
through COUNTRY / SWING DANCING done to
REAL country Music. We strive to make a difference by providing a way for friends and dancers to easily find places to
dance and socialize by the use of this wonderful invention ...
Email and the Web.
We will always try to be a contribution to charitable organizations and needy people in our community through combining
our dance events with fundraisers ... whenever possible.
Our History
Money, Food and Toys raised for the Elenor D. Corner House.
The Corner House is a family Homeless Shelter. There were three shelters but due to a funding shortage, one had to close.
There is nothing as sad as seeing children without a place to call HOME. No place to curl up and feel safe and settled. Can
you imagine how it feels to NOT HAVE AN ADDRESS listed on your school records file ? Thru our dancing we have raised close
to $10,000 for this shelter. We have also been able to donate a van full of food and essentials and two van loads of toys
for the kids. Our dancing MAKES A DIFFERENCE !
Holiday Party gathers SOCKS, HATS and GLOVES for the Homeless.
WOW ... what a party !!! We shared in the Christmas Spirit while dancing ... and partying ... and well wishing at Little Texas.
Over 300 people came, all brought gifts for the homeless. We gathered hundreds of pairs of socks, gloves, hats and scarfs
that were distributed to homeless people in the Baltimore area. Our group is a very generous, caring bunch of dancers.
Country Dance benefits The Alzheimer's Association, Central Md. Chapter.
In May, our group got together to party ... and dance ... and to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association at Little Texas
in Baltimore. Music was provided by the country band ... 4x4 ... and DJ's Roz and Nat. The place was packed. Tears flowed
when the theme song of the dance, Tim Rushlow's " She Misses Him " was played. A good time was had by all and in
the process we raised almost $ 3,500.00 to aid the Central Md. Chapter in helping families cope with this awful disease. We
dance with our Hearts !
We did it again.
We raised another $4000.00 for The Alzheimer's Association.
On September 27th, 2002, the music of Dean Crawford and Dunn's River along with DJ Wild Bill filled Little Texas and kept
the 250 people who attended, dancing and partying all night long. Everyone volunteered for one of the duties to
work the prize and money wheels and the 50/50 drawings. Our dance friends are always extremely generous, especially when
they can DANCE and HELP at the same time.
Benefit for The American Heart Association
Well ... despite the "WRONG" weather forcast again ...
97 country dancers braved the threat of ice and snow to party and raise funds for The American Heart Association. Cumberland
Road played some old great country tunes and Wild Bill picked up the breaks.
We dined on the chili bar's fixins and deserts ...
danced all night, since it DIDN'T snow untill 1 am ...
and raised a Thousand dollars for the cause.
I'd call that a success considering the "DOOM and GLOOM" predicted by the weather stations.
KUDOS to all who attended
And so many more events
and charities
as we continue to dance and have fun.
WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD ...
we'll do it every day ...
one event ...
one country dance at a time !
Who I am
is the possibility of
individuals passionately sharing
love and laughter ...
absolute connectedness ...
every moment used ...
action in the face of fear ...
responsibility ...
courage through
the not-knowing ...
prosperity as a birthright
designed to share the abundance with the world ...
A GREAT LIFE !
